Seniorsearch is Australia’s leading job search site for mature age job seekers. Founded in June 2005 by Horst Marcinsky, himself a baby boomer, it provides mature age job seekers opting to remain in or return to formal employment, an efficient portal for accessing suitable job opportunities.
In Australia, workforce participation plummets from 87% of men and 73% of women aged 45 – 54 in formal employment, to only 51% of men and 28% of women aged 60 – 64, according to 2004 Australian Bureau of Statistics figures.
In today’s competitive market, older job seekers face greater difficulty finding work than younger job seekers, largely due to the continued age discrimination practices of Australian employers. Yet older job seekers have a wealth of accumulated experience and skills, and adapt easily to new environments. Their participation in the workforce is crucial if Australia is to address some of the challenges of a rapidly aging population.
Seniorsearch encourages companies, employers, Centrelink, other Government agencies and recruitment organisations to use the Seniorsearch site to advertise job opportunities for mature age job seekers. Employers have an obligation as corporate citizens to support and assist mature age job seekers by actively scrutinising their own advertisements for potential mature age worker suitability. In collaboration with potential employers, we ensure mature age persons can confidently apply for the positions advertised without concerns about age discrimination.
Most current job search engines try to be everything to everybody and fail to include a pre-qualifier for mature age job seekers. Many retired or semi-retired workers attempting to regain employment are frustrated by the huge volume of advertised positions that bear no real job opportunities. It is our intent to advertise only job opportunities for which predominantly mature age job seekers are eligible. However, anyone accessing the site can search for opportunities. No age group is discriminated against.
Our aim is to save time by ensuring all jobs on Seniorsearch are available for mature age job seekers, filtering out ads pitched at younger job seekers. We aim to eliminate the frustration and deliver excellent service to both client and candidate.
Seniorsearch works expressly towards the creation of a more sustainable future for the baby boomer generation and towards securing the future for all Australians.
